After months of recovering from long-covid Marjolein decided not to come back to the position of the broedplaatsmakelaar. We are sad to see her go but we are sure she will make some new things grow elsewhere! We thank her for her wonderful work and we are including here the letter she asked us to share.

Dear all,
I am very happy to share that I am recovering well and finally have a clear mind to think about reintegration. The past few months have been tough, but also very educational and life-changing. As my rehabilitation therapist says, “you’ll never be the old you again, but you’ll be the new you,” and that’s exactly how it feels.
Unfortunately, I have had to decide that returning as a Broedplaatsmakelaar is not possible for me at the moment. I need to use my energy as efficiently as possible so I have to find something closer to home. But most importantly I have to avoid stress. I know myself well enough to realize that I feel too responsible not to dive back in completely. This was a difficult decision, as it feels like I haven’t been able to wrap things up properly.
Fortunately, I have found a fantastic replacement in Ria, who has taken over the work superbly. From what I understand, significant changes are being implemented, very much in line with my graduation research and advice. This makes me feel less sad about my departure.
I wish everyone the best of luck and hope that the new policies and fresh perspectives within the Gemeente Den Haag will make the creative space climate in Den Haag exceptionally fruitful, countering the challenging national political trends. Over the past year, I have met so many talented creators/ beautiful people and enjoyed my conversations with you and the city. I wish you all the best and hope our paths will cross again in the future!
Kind regards,
Marjolein
