Last Tuesday 7th of April we held our Haagse Broedplaatsen meeting. Organized by the HB core workgroup currently consisting of: Katarina Petrović (ind./SW2/WD4X), Zahar Bondar (Annastate), Lilian Kreutzberger (ind.), Nadine Stijns (Daisy Chain/WD4X), Ruben Verkuylen (WYSIWYG), Frits Dijcks (…ism project space), Clara Pallí (1646), Peter George d’Angelino Tap (ind.), Jacob Wallett and Ayşe Emre (Patch studios), this meeting brought together all interested initiatives, artists and makers in the city for an important decision-making moment.
Katarina introduced the Core Group’s role in the Buro Broedplaats process, which required Haagse Broedplaatsen to become a legal entity. Lilian detailed the Buro Broedplaats background, the proposed collaboration with Stroom Den Haag, and next steps, including forming a legal entity, creating a covenant, and launching an open call for a Broedplaatsmakelaar. Frits presented the legal structure options, proposing a foundation with members and a general assembly (ALV), outlining the organizational framework, membership benefits, and decision-making processes. Kata shared the preliminary mission and vision, prompting discussions on prioritizing new spaces and the role of the Broedplaatsmakelaar.
At the end of the plenary session and with the voting of all present artist and initiatives (more than 15 initiatives and 40 attendees), the group unanimously and overwhelmingly voted in favor of founding the Haagse Broedplaatsen foundation (stichting). The group also gave the above mentioned core group members the mandate to coordinate and act on behalf of the network. Lastly and perhaps a small change but yet an important one – the community voted to use ‘network’ instead of the ‘platform’ in the future. Therefore, this meeting became our first Haagse Broedplaatsen Network meeting.
